If you've had previous experiences within mountain biking but always felt that you've needed that extra knowledge to help your progress and build a good skills base. This course will identify any bad habits and help to eradicate them. It will help you build confidence on the trails and within your capabilities as a rider.
Building on the beginner coaching session this will work on a combination of skills and techniques to build up your confidence and allow you to maintain speed over rough steep sections, corners and technical obstacles. This course is perfect for cyclists who want to gain more confidence and practice bike handling skills and techniques while leaving the course feeling faster and more motivated to go faster and push your limits.
This includes making sure the bike is set up correctly for you to optimise your performance on the trails. Suspension set up so it is working as well as it possibly can for you.
Body positioning on the bike, understanding how to correctly balance and the posture you should be keeping on your bike. Having the correct posture can really benefit your riding and will make for easier descent while keeping consistency over all types of trail.
Ready position and the cone of movement.
Understanding the key cornering techniques. Maintaining traction on left and right turns, banked corners and flat corners. Carrying speed through the corners and hitting the optimal line in and out of the turns.
Drops and whoops. Understanding yours and your bikes limits on technical features while controlling speed and keeping balance. This will help you to master the skill before picking up the speed.
As it's a beginners session the trails won't be too steep, but there will still be technical descents, so coaching will be provided on how to conquer steep descents.
Line choices on the trails - Looking ahead and spotting the quickest, smoothest line.
Core bike handling skills such as being able to float over rough sections, bunny hopping and manuals. How, where and when these are best to be used. Achieving the technique then understanding how and when to perform technique.
Of course, last but not least, cornering techniques are key to any trail and type of riding. This will consist of the correct body position and maintaining speed and traction.
While creating efficient riding lines in and out of corners.Throughout the session participants will be provided with constructive personal feedback allowing them to improve on their weaknesses. Athletes will leave session with acquired knowledge and skills they did not have before. Also riders will be given some advice and tis on how to improve on what we have discussed in the session so they can carry on practising in their spare time.
